EU citizens living in the UK: apply to the EU settlement scheme now

Posted | 10 June 2021

If you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen and were living in the UK by 31st December 2020, now is the time to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme. (The EEA includes the EU countries and also Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.)

If you miss the deadline of 30th June 2021, you could lose your rights to:

  • Live, work and study in the UK
  • Access public services like the NHS, housing, welfare and benefits.

You and your family members (including children and non-EU citizens) need to apply to continue living in the UK after 30th June 2021.

Even if you have permanent right of residence, you may still need to apply.

Irish citizens or those with valid indefinite leave don’t need to apply.

You can complete the application online today, and there is lots of support available if you have any questions. To apply and for further information visit the Government's website.

For questions about your application call the EU Resolution Centre on 0300 123 7379.

For help completing the online application form contact Assisted Digital on 03333 445 675 or visit the Government's website.
