Helping Yusuf get their career back on track

When Yusuf (name changed for privacy) came to our Employment and Skills team, he was looking for work for the first time in more than 30 years. At 63, Yusuf had just been made redundant and suddenly found himself unsure where to begin. The job market felt unfamiliar, and his confidence had taken a knock.

Our Employment and Skills team helped Yusuf, giving him personalised support with job searching, CV writing, completing applications, preparing for interviews and exploring new opportunities. With this support, Yusuf successfully secured a role with Manchester City Council as a School Crossing Patrol Officer.

Yusuf and his family told us how valuable the support had been during what was a difficult and uncertain time. Inspired by the positive experience and outcome, Yusuf's son is now planning to access support from the team to help him find a job.
