New Health and Social Care training opportunity
We're teaming up with The Manchester College to bring you an exciting opportunity to start your training journey in Health and Social Care.
We’re excited to have teamed up with The Manchester College to offer our customers interested in health and social care a free training opportunity.
Are you 19+, claiming benefits and interested in health and social care? You’re eligible to take part in this fully funded 6-week course, ‘Level 1 Certificate in an Introduction to Health and Social Care’ taking place at Gorton Hub in Gorton.
The course will run 2 days a week, every Monday and Thursday, starting from the 29 January for 6 weeks. The sessions will take place from 9.30 am – 3.30 pm at Gorton Hub, Hyde Road, Manchester, M18 8LD.

About the course
This course provides an introduction into the essential and rewarding health and social care sector. This programme will be person-centred and will provide you with the fundamental skills needed to work in this sector.
Each session will guide you through important values needed when working in any health or social care role.
The values which underpin this course are: Care, Compassion, Courage, Communication, Competence and Commitment.
The programme units you will study during the course are as follows:
- Introduction to working in health care, adult care and childcare
- Effective communication
- Introduction to safeguarding in health care, adult care and childcare
- Awareness of equality and diversity
- Introduction to working in a person-centred way in health, adult care and childcare
- Introduction to health and safety in the workplace
- Understanding conflict at work
- Awareness of stress and stress management
