Make a real impact and get stuck in at your local clean-up

We're running clean-up events across our neighbourhoods over the next couple of months - find out how you can get involved.

Posted | 15 July 2026

You told us how important it is for your neighbourhood to look its best, so we’re launching a regular clean-up schedule running from summer into autumn this year to help make that happen.

We’re committed to keeping your neighbourhoods clean, green and welcoming – and our Grounds Maintenance and Mobile Cleaning teams work hard to make sure they do just that. However, our clean-up events are a great opportunity for you to get stuck-in and make a difference to your local area. You can volunteer at your local clean-up to:

  • Make use of the free skip for any unwanted items you’ve been meaning to throw away
  • Join in on community litter-picking
  • Point out any issues you may be having within your local area to your Neighbourhood Officer
  • Connect with your community and make your neighbourhood one you can be proud of

So, when can you get involved?

Check out the schedule below for clean-ups taking place this month (July 2026):

  • Fallowfield: Tuesday 21 July from 8am-1pm – meet at: Abram Close off the corner of Rostherne Avenue
  • Hulme: Wednesday 22 July from 9am-2pm – meet at: Shawgreen Car Park opposite Plattwood Walk and Stockley Walk
  • Gorton: Wednesday 22 July from 8am-12.30pm – meet at: the corner of Aylesby Avenue and Ormsby Avenue/Tealby Road
  • Rusholme: Wednesday 29 July from 11am-3pm – meet at: Pankurst Walk and Ellanby Close, and Gantock Walk

We regularly update the Events Calendar on our website with upcoming neighbourhood clean-ups – keep an eye out for more events near you in August and September.

What you can expect

Thinking of heading down? We’d love to see you there. Just head to the meeting point and say hello to the team. We’ll give you a quick briefing and all the tools you need to get started.

Need to pop something in the skip? You’re welcome to bring along any waste or items you’d like to dispose of.

So, what’re you waiting for? Choose to get involved. Choose your local clean-up. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Need to report an issue in your area?

We know from time to time things may be missed, if you see any issues near you all you need to do is report it to us and we’ll get someone to check it out.

You can report issues by calling us on 0330 355 1000, via our Contact Us form, or by speaking to your Neighbourhood Officer at your local clean-up.
