Return keys. Avoid court. Manchester City Council (MCC) are offering key amnesty until Friday 27 February 2026

Manchester City Council (MCC) are offering key amnesty until Friday 27 February 2026 - you can return your keys to us anonymously at Lovell House (M15 5RN).

We've partnered with MCC through the Manchester Housing Providers' Partnership (MHPP) and are supporting their Tenancy Fraud awareness campaign by promoting key amnesty.

Essentially, if you are subletting or fraudulently using your property in a way that goes against your tenancy agreement, you can surrender your keys to us so we can take the property back.

A graphic from Manchester City Council informing residents who are subletting social housing that they have until Feburary 27 2026 to return keys to their housing provider. This does not include residents currently being investigated for suspected tenancy fraud.

You can either:

  • Visit Lovell House (6 Archway, Hulme, M15 6RN) between 9am and 5pm, ring the buzzer, and hand your keys to one of the Neighbourhood Officers on duty at the office
  • Or drop your keys anonymously in the key box outside Lovell House (attached to the building). If you do this, the keys must be clearly labelled with the property address so we can identify them.
