Celebrating Manchester Pride 2022
Every year, August bank holiday weekend marks Pride celebrations in Manchester. Over the years, One Manchester colleagues have taken part in the parade to show support and alliance with Pride and everything it stands for and this year is no different.
For the 2022 parade, we are joining forces with our fellow housing providers and Greater Manchester HouseProud members to have a combined float in the parade. HouseProud Greater Manchester is a network group for LGBTQ+ people working in social housing.
Every year, the Manchester Pride Parade is attended by tens of thousands of LGBTQ+ people and allies gathering to march through the city for equality. For us at One Manchester, supporting and actively engaging with our communities is integral to everything we do, which is why we ensure we support Manchester Pride every year and celebrate our organisation as an LGBTQ+ supporter and ally.
Manchester Pride is a global Pride movement celebrating LGBTQ+ equality and challenging discrimination, it first started in 1986, when Manchester City Council provided funding for a two-week celebration for the gay community.
March for Peace
The theme for 2022's Parade is ‘March for Peace’, LGBTQ+ people have fought for and achieved so much, but levels of homophobic and transphobic hate crimes have soared in recent years with many people still facing discrimination because of their identity. Thousands of people will join together in the parade to strive for a world where all LGBTQ+ people are free to live and love in peace.
Look out for our HouseProud lorry in the parade, it will be decked out in decorations and placards centred around the March for Peace theme.
Our colleagues will be taking part in the parade which takes place on Saturday 27 August between 12- 2pm, along with our fellow HouseProud members– Bolton at Home, Calico Group, Equity Housing Group, Great Places Housing Group, Home Group, Irwell Valley Homes, MSV, Northwards, One Manchester, Onwards, Salix Homes, Stockport Homes and Riverside.

Our ongoing commitment to dealing with damp and mould
In December 2022, we provided a report to the Regulator of Social Housing on how many of our homes had cases of damp and mould. To date, the majority of repairs have been completed for our customers, making sure your home is a safe and healthy space.Posted 04 Aug 2023
