Have a gas meter cap in place? We can help
Read here how you can heat your home for cheaper.
As temperatures drop, we start thinking about putting the heating on. However, we know with the increase in the cost of living, keeping your home warm might be a concern.
We’re taking a proactive approach to support our customers who want to remove their gas meter cap this winter. A gas meter cap is when a cap is placed on your gas meter externally which stops any gas being supplied to your home.
We recently helped Pauline (name changed for privacy reasons) have the gas meter cap on her home removed – and we could help you too.
Supporting Pauline to get a whole new heating system
We recently supported Pauline whose home in Gorton had the gas meter capped. The previous owner had changed the gas heating system to an electric one, but Pauline was now struggling to keep her house warm. Pauline’s Neighbourhood Officer got in touch to ask about her gas cap and if she wanted support removing it.
What we did
We took some time to understand Pauline’s situation and concerns and then got to work. We arranged for Pauline to have a gas meter installed in her home. We then supported Pauline throughout the meter installation and answered any questions she had. Once the meter had been installed, we helped Pauline choose an energy supplier and install a new boiler in her home, changing her electric system to a gas heating central system just in time for winter.
Since Pauline has been able to heat her home for cheaper and said she’s feeling better about the upcoming winter chill.
