Fire safety at tower blocks

Our commitment to fire safety in our high-rise blocks continues and the safety of our residents remains our highest priority.

This includes the development of evacuation plans for all high-rises including personally developed plans for residents who would struggle to evacuate themselves, as well as the provision of alarm systems.

High-rise buildings will operate a ‘Stay Safe’ policy from the 9th March 2022. This means in the event of a fire, the only people who need to evacuate are those who live in the flat where a fire has occurred or are affected by it.

We have consulted with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and they both agree that the buildings should revert to a ‘Stay Safe’ strategy from the previous temporary ‘Phased Evacuation’. The fire alarm will stay operational but will be silenced and used to inform the Fire and Rescue Service of a fire in a flat.

We continue to liaise with the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service to make sure the highest standards of fire safety are maintained. We also ensure that we keep up to date with all government announcements and guidelines, to ensure all our properties meet fire safety regulations.

Come to our drop-in sessions

There will be a drop-in sessions on the 23rd and 24th February in the community rooms at each block as shown below. By attending the sessions you will get the chance to find out more about the ‘Stay Safe’ strategy, meet the Building Safety Manager and ask questions regarding the new changes.
