Barry Wears joins One Manchester as new Chief Finance Officer
One Manchester is pleased to announce the appointment of Barry Wears as our new Chief Finance Officer.
Wears, who is originally from the North East, has 20-years' experience in finance roles, with the last five years at Trafford Housing Trust as Finance Director then Executive Director. Prior to that, he has held various senior positions including Financial Controller at Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure.
Intensely passionate about social housing, Wears commented: I have long admired One Manchester and its values-driven approach, which places equal weight on housing, people and communities. One Manchester recognises that social housing is as much about providing safe homes as it is about enabling thriving communities and supporting the people who live within them.”
He continued: “With pressures on individuals and families at an all-time high, our work has never seemed more important. Delivering value for money and efficiency is going to be critical to the livelihoods of many of our customers and therefore has to be a key focus for the business.”
He went on to say: “It is also an exciting time to be part of this growing sector; we have many new homes to build and significant sustainability targets. My priority will be to make sure we have robust financial controls in place and a long-term stable foundation from which we can deliver.”
One Manchester Chief Executive, Nicole Kershaw, said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Barry as our new CFO and I look forward to working closely with him on the next chapter of our long-term growth. Barry has extensive experience in senior finance roles both within and outside the sector which will be of huge value to One Manchester.”
