At One Manchester we are on an incredible journey of change as we redefine how we deliver solutions and services to our customers. The Comms & Marketing Team has a crucial part to play in our journey and you’ll be joining the team in a newly created role as Content Designer.

As our Content Designer, you will create designs for a diverse range of communication assets, enhancing One Manchester’s visual brand with your innovative ideas and eye for detail. You will define what ‘good’ looks like and be responsible for the ongoing development of our visual identity.

You will love nothing more than working at the heart of the team, bringing concepts and content to life through design.

The nature of this service is varied. One day you will be creating graphics for social media, the next you will be working on concepts for a multi-channel campaign or shooting video footage on one of our estates. You will need to be great with people, highly organised and tuned into organisational and team priorities to effectively manage the demands of the service.

Your role will make a valuable contribution to the overall brand positioning of One Manchester as an employer, partner and landlord of choice.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Deliver a high quality, responsive, professional Content Design service to the business, creating designs for a range of online and offline channels using illustration, photo editing and layout software

  • Collaborate with internal clients to ensure you determine their requirements and create design briefs that meet their needs.

  • Advise clients on strategies to engage their target audiences and create visual concepts that illustrate and communicate their vision while complying with design best practices.

  • Act as an ambassador in developing and maintaining One Manchester’s design principles, brand guidelines and house style.

  • Develop and embed a style guide so quality standards and brand consistency are guaranteed and colleagues have the knowledge and tools they need to protect brand integrity.

  • Lead on outsourcing design services that cannot be completed in house, creating supplier briefs, overseeing budget and managing relationships.

Critical knowledge, skills and experience required:

  • Good experience working in a Content Design or a Graphic Design role and of working in a busy communications environment

  • Experience of video production and basic editing skills

  • Demonstrable experience using Adobe software (essential - Photoshop, InDesign, Sketch and Illustrator; desirable – Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom and Dreamweaver)

  • Demonstrable experience creating logos, brand identities and other designs for a variety of online and offline channels.

  • Experience of managing work requests, creating and interpreting design briefs and managing client relationships.

  • Knowledge of accessible design principles.

  • Experience of using content design principles, website content management systems.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, able to influence, challenge and present with confidence.

  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills, able to manage limited resources effectively.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

If you have any of the following it would be an advantage:

  • Experience of video production and basic editing skills an advantage.

  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.

  • Degree level or equivalent qualification in graphic design, art, publishing or related discipline.
