We're proud to announce that our One Money team fought off competition from some fantastic teams, to be crowned 'Team of the Year' at the Northern TPAS Awards 2017 in Manchester.

The TPAS Awards celebrate the successes and hard work of tenants and landlords in the social housing sector to improve lives and bring real and long-lasting change in communities.

The award recognises the fantastic and often life changing work the One Money team do. Money issues can be devastating and impact on all areas of people’s lives including their health. The One Money team works tirelessly to support customers to regain control of their finances, which can make a huge difference in people's lives.

Receiving the award was Financial Inclusion Manager, Julie Blairs, who spoke of the impact the team is making:

“The team work really hard and achieve great results for their customers so it is wonderful to receive this recognition.

“We provide debt benefit advice for all our tenants, and our team has really grown which is great because these days we need more and more people working on this. We have a system in place so that people can get access to us within 24 hours which is good because it can help to put their mind to rest about any money or benefit worries they might have, and then they will get an appointment with one of our wonderful team!

"Our message to everybody is that you don’t have to suffer in debt, there’s always a solution and you just have to seek that help."

Jenny Osbourne, chief executive of TPAS England said: “The Northern region has always proved to be a region with strong talent with many regional winners coming out on top in the national awards over the past 10 years.

With such a diverse region we have seen great projects and inspiring individuals. The ‘Team of the Year’ award is a tough category to beat and we’re delighted to award One Manchester for their fantastic achievement and to give the tenants and staff within their communities the recognition they deserve.”

Our Youth Intervention team was also nominated in the ‘Excellence in Youth Involvement’ category for its work to address anti-social behaviour by positively engaging with young people, a huge achievement given the team was only established last year.

The One Money team will now compete against other teams from across the country in Warwick on 13 July 2017 for the title of National TPAS 'Team of the Year' 2017.
